Michael Savage

Savage
dr-savageDr. Michael Savage is a multimedia icon in the conservative movement, heard by 10 million listeners a week on “The Michael Savage Show” and syndicated across the U.S. in more than 300 markets. He is also the author of 25 books, including four New York Times best-sellers. In 2007, his media presence and profile earned him the coveted “Freedom of Speech Award” from Talkers Magazine.

His passion to unearth the truth about liberalism, borders, language and culture, and his unparalleled stand for America’s families, has made him the most important figure in the fight for free speech and ideals in America today.

He is the only member of the U.S. media ever blacklisted and banned from a Western nation. His ban from visiting Britain in June 2009 has made him the “poster child” for free speech, not only for Americans concerned about the cultural shift towards totalitarianism and their rights to freedom of expression, but for people around the globe. In mid-2009, this worldwide media attention concerning the ban resulted in a New Yorker magazine profile of him.

Savage’s first novel, “Abuse of Power,” became a New York Times best-seller in September. The thriller is a fictionalized account of being banned from Britain and hunted by overbearing governments.

Dr. Savage holds a master’s degree in medical botany and a second in medical anthropology. Additionally, he earned his PhD. from the University of California at Berkeley in epidemiology and nutrition sciences. He is an ardent conservationist, is dedicated to his family and is a proud patriot of his country.

Joel Quest We own a horse. My wife has been a horse person her whole life and teaching me so much in the 9 years we've been together. These creatures have just as deep a personality as any dog, cat or human. They understand death in sort of the same way a young child does. They get it but they don't quite get it, but they sure do understand loss. If you have a stable of 30 horses and one of them dies, even if it's out of their sight, they know it. You can feel it in the barn, it's a very somber affair. No noise. Everyone is out of sorts for a day or so. We horsesit 2 horses for a friend who is gone during the week working in the city, owns a very comfortable spread in the Chicago suburbs. We typically see these horses 5 days a week at least, One of her horses coliced (major intestinal impaction) and at his age, he wasn't a candidate for surgery. The other horse (Bud, a mustang) who was a little younger, was TOTALLY herdbound to him and would start making a big fuss any time his horse friend was out of sight, even for a moment. Making calling noises just like the horse in the video. On this day, though, I'll never forget when we led the poor horse from the lower barn to the driveway (where his remains could be easily retrieved) for the first time in the other horses life, he didn't go crazy as soon as his buddy wasn't in sight. It was eerie and heartbreaking because that animal knew something was up. The horse that had to be put down (Nipper) had his own way of thanking us for all the years we had stopped to feed him every day and feed him peppermints and keep him happy. It wasn't even our horse but it might as well have been. We had to make that awful decision then and there for a horse that wasn't even ours. We knew the owner, who was well versed in animal life and death would understand, but still. I didn't care for the hand we were dealt that day. If I'm lucky I'll get 80 or so years here, which means I'll go through the agony of losing my furry children many more times. I've lost them to old age, cancer and sometimes the unknown. It never gets easier. But then I get to make a new friend and the story changes. My only solace is knowing that I will die an old man having had many, many wonderful animal friends.
